We have an agreement with the City of Mayfield to provide animal control and housing services and with Graves County to house homeless pets. Animals enter our shelter in the following ways.
- City Animal Control (our animal control officer)
- County Animal Control (provided by Graves County Fiscal Court)
- Public Drop-off (Stray Animals) Mayfield & Graves County residents only (proof of residency required).
- Owner Surrender (Mayfield & Graves County residents only (proof of residency required)).
- We also pick up small deceased animals inside the city limits which are on public streets. We do not pick up deceased animals on private property.
Our organization began in 1991 as “Animal Shelter Action Society, Inc.” Land was purchased and/or donated, and in 1995, a construction grant was secured and the original building was built. Since then, through the generosity of many individuals, companies and organizations, we have doubled the size of the building and added up-to-date equipment.

- UP TO DATE ON SHOTS, INCLUDING RABIES.
- DEWORMED.
- DOGS ARE TESTED FOR HEARTWORMS.
- CATS ARE TESTED FOR FELINE AIDS AND FELINE LEUKEMIA.
- ADULT ANIMALS ARE SPAYED OR NEUTERED.
- PUPPIES AND KITTENS ARE ALTERED AT AN APPROPRIATE AGE AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE ADOPTER.
- IMPLANTED WITH A 24PETWATCH MICROCHIP.
- PROVIDED WITH 30 DAYS FREE HEALTH INSURANCE IF ADOPTER HAS AN E-MAIL ADDRESS.
